Editor's note: The following is a transcript of a conversation with Trent Cotney, partner of Adams and Reese. You can listen to the interview or read the transcript below.
Jenny Yu: Hi everyone, my name is Jenny Yu and I'm here with RoofersCoffeeShop for an influencer response for the month of May. And we've got Trent Cotney of Adams and Reese here. How are you today, Trent?
Trent Cotney: Good, how are you doing?
Jenny Yu: Doing all right today, yeah. excited to talk about leveraging associations and chapters with you. And we were wondering if you could share your thoughts specifically on getting women and emerging leaders connected.
Trent Cotney: Yeah. obviously, you know, I'm a big believer in associations. I've worked with a variety of associations throughout the industry and they do a great job in not only focusing on emerging leaders, young professionals, but also there are there are certain associations that really push women involvement as well and have special events and meetings and things of that nature to kind of assist.
I was just at Western States' board and committee meetings and they had a very strong young professionals meeting there with a lot of attendance. FRSA also has a young professionals group which has outings and does get togethers. CRCA, the Chicago Association, does a really great job both with their women's group, Chicago Women in Roofing and the young professionals there. And of course NRCA is the leaders in the industry, making sure that they're doing whatever they can to to work with, you know, not only within their association.
I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention National Women In Roofing, which is near and dear to my heart. And obviously they're they're out in front when it comes to advancing women's interest within the industry. So I think it's important to to belong to these associations because they are the mouthpiece and, by interfacing by going to meetings, you get something that you can't get over the phone. It's that person to person contact. And it it allows you to really share your experiences and feel like you're part of something bigger than just yourself.
So I really recommend everybody that's kinda on the fence get involved, whether it's your local, state, regional or national associations. Great way to to, you know, understand what's going on in your industry and just kind of stay in touch. So if it wouldn't if it wasn't for associations, I probably wouldn't be talking to you right now. I'd be doing something else. So I I love and think it's just a great opportunity for anyone out there that's interested.
Jenny Yu: Awesome. Thank you so much, Trent. And to all our listeners, please make sure you go out and check out our influencer responses at RoofersCoffeeShop.com and learn more about Trent and Adams and Reese on their RoofersCoffeeShop directories.
