There are many different ways that RoofersCoffeeShop® (RCS) aims to help our readers learn and grow. One of our big initiatives is our Influencer program. Through this program, we work with roofing industry leaders and professionals to get insights on timely industry topics. What we aim to do with this program is to give readers access to a variety of opinions and advice so they can fully understand the subject. As the year ends, we wanted to look back at some of the top insights from our incredible RCS Influencers!
In the last year, there has been a huge rise in the number of service and maintenance departments around the country. In one of our Influencer articles, Jennifer Stone, an account manager at Johns Manville, talked about this, saying, “Women are working in roofing service departments as leaders, administrators, roof technicians and salespeople. They are taking the service departments to new levels working side-by-side with men and showing how successful a balanced organization can be.”
On a slightly different note, Mike Hicks of Hick's Industrial Roofing shared an article all about how connecting to an association can boost a contracting business. They do this by creating space for collective action, such as NFIB’s advocacy, and offering unique learning opportunities, like NRCA’s publications.
At the beginning of the year, Marty Stout from Go Roof Tune Up shared some of his thoughts about the key ways that contractors can improve their roofing businesses. His advice? Focus on building better service, relationships and workplaces. With those as both pillars and continual goals, your business will grow and thrive.
Another key factor to roofing success is adapting to new products and technologies. In one of his influencer articles, Drew Smith (Brad Smith Roofing) shared the top programs that help his team succeed – JobNimbus, Clock Shark, EagleView, QuickBooks, CompanyCam and GPSTrackIt.
5 – Research matters when starting your business by Trent Cotney
Our influencers are not only a great resource for contractors already deep into running their businesses but also are helpful for those just starting out. A great example of how they can help beginning contractors is Trent Cotney of Adams and Reese’s advice about starting a business. He explained, “For contractors starting out, I would advise them to establish the foundation of their company first. You shouldn’t start your business without creating a blueprint. The best way to start is by researching your industry.”
