In the world of commercial roofing, success doesn’t just come from flawless installations or fast repairs, it comes from treating each roof like it's your own. That was the core message from Jeanne Boyd-Curtis of Boyd Bone Dry Roofing in this Read Listen Watch (RLW) webinar. Jeanne, a third-generation contractor and current president of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, joined Zach Carpenter of Jobba to discuss what it really means to build a service culture that puts care at the center. The conversation centered around reliability, honesty and consistency and the often-overlooked value of treating every project, big or small, with the same level of professionalism.
“It doesn't matter whether you're just doing some flashing work or whether you're doing an entire re-roof,” Jeanne said. “Every project should be treated the same.” That consistency, according to both Jeanne and Zach, is what keeps customers coming back. It’s about making service personal, showing up when you say you will, following through and communicating clearly when problems arise.
And when the answers aren’t obvious? “If you go up there and you don't know the answer to a problem that you see in a roof, just say, ‘I need to come back,’” Jeanne said. “Be honest about what you can and can't do.” Zach, who co-founded Jobba’s FCS software platform, echoed the importance of transparency. “People shy away from the word no because it has such a negative connotation,” he said. “But I think people appreciate, ‘No, I don't know that answer and I'm not going to pretend to. But what I will do is commit that I will figure it out for you.’”
