How to get workers to embrace construction technology – Part 1

The industry has been slow to catch up with construction technology but that is starting to change as solutions become even easier to use and implement.

The construction industry has been slow to embrace technological advancements. But that status quo is quickly changing with the advancements of project management software, drones, and augmented reality. Implementing technology in the construction industry has one major barrier: many construction workers do not welcome the change that comes with technology.

This article is part of a two-part guide with tips on how to get your construction team to embrace new technology.

Tip 1: Find individuals that people look up to, and empower those individuals by allowing them to test the technology first. This both sets an example and allows you to test technology among a smaller group of participants.

Tip 2: There must be a training plan prior to purchasing and using the new software. The training plan should have two separate components: hands-on and online. These different mediums are important because people learn in different ways. Whatever the medium, time must be allotted for training and continuous support to ensure your staff has an understanding of the software.
