RoofersCoffeeShop® has made it easier than ever for members of the roofing and construction industries to learn how they want, when they want, where they want with their Read, Listen, Watch (RLW) initiative. Whether you want to read a transcript, listen to a podcast or watch a webinar, the Coffee Shop has made it possible for you to learn your way.
In a recent RLW, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Greg Bloom of Beacon Building Products and John Kiesel of Division 7 Roofing and Imagine Technologies to discuss recent technological advancements that have altered the way roofing professionals get the job done. As roofing technologies progress, it has become more crucial than ever for professionals to adapt and learn how to utilize these technologies to their advantage in their local markets.
As technologies like aerial measurements and customer relationship management software (CRM) took off, professionals in the roofing industry have shown a major interest in using these technologies to their advantage, boosting their businesses in ways that were inconceivable decades before. Technology is finding ways to improve not just manufacturing and contracting, but distribution as well.
Greg explained the ways technology has impacted distribution, “I think large, medium and small distributors now have brought technology into our businesses. We've added technology to our everyday B2B, call it business-to-business activities with contractors and with manufacturers and with third party integrators. So, whether it's software, whether it's CRMs, whether it's logistics, there's all types of technology we are now using on the distribution side.”
John explained how the Beacon Pro+ portal has changed how distribution operates and now streamlines processes faster than ever before, “I think it's outstanding. We can track our orders; we can see what's been delivered and not be surprised with invoices or materials we weren't expecting on. You're placing a $2 million material order, how much of it's been shipped? How much has been delivered? What do we still have to be billed for? We have access to that information immediately.”
