Roofing solutions that prioritize ease and versatility

Roofing solutions that prioritize ease and versatility

By Jesse Sanchez.

BITEC embraces contractor needs with an expanded product lineup, giving them everything they need in one place for easier access and a smoother project experience.

As the industry continues to evolve and embrace change, so too does BITEC. Dubbed “BITEC 3.0,” the company is expanding its product offerings to become a true one-stop shop for contractors. In this Roofing Road Trips® podcast, BITEC President Joel Shealey sat down with host Karen Edwards to discuss the evolution of the company and reveal what's driving the growing popularity of their self-adhered roofing systems, particularly in residential applications.

Joel explained how BITEC has transformed dramatically over the last five years, driven by a commitment to providing comprehensive solutions. Originally known for its modified bitumen products, the company now provides a broad spectrum of offerings, from single-ply membranes and full coating lines to built-up roofing. Joel highlighted the convenience of working with a single manufacturer. "It’s beneficial for us and for the end user, the building owner or the contractor," he said. The simplicity of sourcing a full roof system from the deck up streamlines warranty processes and minimizes issues around accountability. "It all comes back to one point," Joel said, making the experience smoother for everyone involved.

In addition to becoming the one-stop shop for contractors, they're also making improvements to their products. BITEC’s Imperflex™ self-adhered system has seen increasing interest due to its safety, simplicity and ability to match residential roofing aesthetics. Joel shared the homeowner-friendly aspect of the product, noting BITEC offers 13 colors in their standard lineup, making it easy to match existing shingles seamlessly.

But BITEC didn’t stop there. The company has also embraced change based on contractor feedback, transitioning to Imperflex SA2, a lighter, two-square base sheet designed specifically to simplify installation and calculations for contractors. Joel explained that the shift was driven by both customer input and BITEC’s own growth. “It was feedback from our customers,” Joel said. “We’ve run BITEC 2.0’s course and we’re honestly transitioning to BITEC 3.0 now. To keep that growth going and to listen to what our contractors are asking for.”
