Protecting Jobsites Protects Customer Retention

Catch-All Protecting Jobsites
June 29, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.

By Anna Lockhart.

A satisfied customer is a satisfied business. Learn how to utilize the Catch-All system to protect homeowner property and how, in turn, you can earn customer trust.

In an episode of Roofing Road Trips, host Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down to talk with The Catch-All co-owner and co-founder, Heath Hicks, about the company’s product line and how their products are changing the way contractors manage jobsites.

The Catch-All is a company founded on a product designed to make jobsite cleanup safer and significantly less of a hassle for contractors and their crews when on the job. The Catch-All helps gather any debris discarded from the roofing work in an easy to clean net and keeps any damage from happening to the homeowner’s property during or after a job in the months to come after it is completed. Not only does the product save homeowners from the risks of harm or property damage, but it also does a tremendous job of keeping any liability and extra hours cleaning up the job site from falling onto the contractor and their crew.

Not only does The Catch-All help make the jobsite clean-up process a fraction of the time and cost, but it also makes a major difference in customer retention. Homeowners want contractors they can trust to have their best interest in mind, and with a safety and debris system like The Catch-All, it’s a no-brainer to trust that the crew they’ve hired have their best interest in mind.

Heath wanted to make the roofing process easy and positive for everyone, especially the homeowner, “They don't want nails and trash left in their flower beds and in their grass. They don't want paths worn through their awesome grass from all your wheelbarrows and foot traffic. If you did it on a day after it rained and it was muddy and you tracked mud all through the yard, they don't want that. They don't care that it was a construction site.” He continued, “I wanted to get the experience to a place where everyone liked all of it... And so it seems like an impossible goal, but you'll get closer if you try really hard. So we tried really hard to get as close as we could to making the roofing process enjoyable all the way around.”

With that goal in mind, after many experiments, trial and error, The Catch-All was born.  By finding a way to minimize a major pain point of the home improvement process – making as little of a mess as possible on the roof and the surrounding property – Heath and The Catch-All team found a successful solution that pleased their customers and helped contractors manage their jobsites in a whole new way.

About The Catch-All

Early on in our residential roofing company, we often found ourselves doing a great job on a homeowner’s roof — only to get a call later about a damaged bush or a nail in a lawnmower tire. Perfect customer satisfaction felt like an impossible goal, but we kept pushing to find a solution.

We spent thousands at our job sites on the best nail magnets out there, bought metal detectors for our crews, and even paid crews more for extra clean job sites. But none of those efforts achieved our goal.

If you think about it, professionalism matters to homeowners. They've often just experienced a significant storm at their properties, with hail damage to their roofs (and cars), uprooted trees or broken limbs, etc. They want a smooth & professional roof replacement experience after all of that.

Out of this frustration we developed The Catch-All to cover an entire roofing job site.
