I, personally, have spent many years in the home improvement industry working in various internal office roles and it’s given me a lot of very useful insight to help other home improvement businesses advance in their field. Here are a few steps I recommend for roofing companies looking to break through and scale sustainably:
Start by reviewing what’s already in place. Are your internal operations efficient? Is your team aligned? Do you have clear SOP’s set up? Are leads being followed up with consistently? Growth stalls when processes break under pressure, so solid systems are key to scaling.
Instead of spreading your budget thin, double down on what’s already working. For many, that’s Google Ads, local SEO and a well-optimized Google Business Profile. Add in smart content — like project photos, testimonials and videos — to build trust and convert leads.
If you don’t already have one, implement a CRM to track every lead and automate follow-ups. Without it, opportunities slip away. With it, your close rate improves and you gain valuable insight into where your best leads are coming from and who your top performers are.
Scaling often means doing less yourself. Delegate or outsource what slows you down — from marketing to admin tasks — so you can focus on what drives the needle.
Track meaningful KPIs like cost-per-lead, average ticket size and job profitability. These numbers tell the real story and guide better decisions.
Growth only happens when your team is engaged. Keep communication open, roles clear and celebrate wins — big or small.
Breaking through a plateau doesn’t mean doing more — it means doing the right things better. With the right structure in place, growth becomes not just possible, but sustainable.
