Amanda Gay isn’t your typical sales trainer. As the self-described “product and program evangelist” at Brava Roof Tile, she spends most of her week crisscrossing the country, getting in front of contractors, distributors and sales teams. Her mission: to educate the roofing industry on why Brava’s synthetic tiles are more than just eye-catching; they’re a business builder. “I work with distributers as well as contractors, training them on the selling points of Brava,” Amanda said. “Why Brava’s a good fit or the best option and teaching contractors how to build their business with Brava.” In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, host Karen Edwards sat down with Amanda, fresh off a flight and recording from her car, to talk about Brava’s explosive growth and how training is fueling it.
Amanda’s approach isn’t one-size-fits-all. She offers personalized in-office trainings, distribution-hosted launch events and hands-on product demonstrations. “We’ll go to the branch location or the office,” Amanda said. “If they don’t have this facility to hold that, we can hold it at distribution.” One standout feature is Brava’s level one installation training, a 30-minute online course available in both English and Spanish. “If you could talk about it, you can sell it or you can install it,” Amanda said. “It’s only going to be a benefit to you.”
But the education doesn’t stop at contractors. Brava’s training reaches deep into distribution chains, from inside sales to warehouse staff. “We don’t just focus on one area,” Amanda noted. “Everybody has a part of the business, and we want to help them elevate.” The payoff? Contractors walk away not just more informed but more confident and often, more successful. Amanda recalled, “The biggest ones that I get is, ‘I wish I knew those selling points last week.’”
With Brava expanding its footprint across the U.S. and ramping up its support systems, including live AI text assistance and real-time phone support, Amanda believes education is the differentiator in a crowded synthetic roofing market. “Relationship is big for us,” she said. “We don’t just want to be the guy that you call when there’s a problem. We want to be the person that you call and saying, ‘Hey, this is a great success story.’”
