Video Marketing Excites and Educates Customers

IKO Video Marketing
September 9, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

By Karen L. Edwards, RCS Editor.

IKO marketing leader Jack Gottesman shares tips on how to implement and improve video marketing.

In a recent Roofing Road Trips with Heidi podcast, IKO’s Jack Gottesman joined Heidi for a conversation about video marketing. Jack stressed the importance of creating intriguing video content as a vehicle to tell stories in ways that simple text cannot because “different people absorb information in different ways.”

He shared that it is important to have a variety of different marketing videos on your YouTube, your website and your social media platforms. “I'll give you an example,” explained Jack. “One of the things that we're doing recently is focusing on made-for-social videos that are between 30 and 45 seconds. Very quick hits, where people are able to digest the information fast and you quickly get a message across.”

These quick-hit videos are great for roofing contractors who are targeting homeowners. “If you're a roofing contractor, you're going to want those types of videos to get the homeowner that you're going to pitch excited about you and excited about your product.” Jack says that while you’re on your way to see a homeowner you can text them to let them know you’re coming, and at the same time send them a link to a short video  that explains why you recommend a product like IKO Dynasty performance shingles. Invite them to watch so they will have a better understanding of what you will be talking about at your meeting.

Now that in-person sales are limited due to the coronavirus, Jack says this is an excellent time to take advantage of the opportunity to communicate with your customers using quick video clips. Take a short video to let the homeowner see exactly what you have found on the roof. Share it over a text and they have a pretty good idea in 30 – 45 seconds.

If you’re not quite ready to go down the making your own videos road, that’s ok because IKO has been creating a lot of videos that their contractors are able to share with homeowners. You can find their videos on their Facebook page or on their YouTube channel.
