Spanish barrel tile gains ground with homeowners

Spanish barrel tile gains ground with homeowners

A growing number of property owners are turning to Brava’s composite Spanish Barrel Tile for its blend of modern beauty and durable performance.

Brava Roof Tile continues to see rising interest in its Spanish Barrel Tile as homeowners look for roofing that captures historic character without the structural strain of traditional clay. The company’s composite design offers the curved profile associated with Mediterranean and Mission Revival architecture while keeping weight to a minimum. Brava says the lighter build can help reduce installation labor and long-term upkeep.

Many clients see the visual appeal as the first draw, with color blends such as Aged Mission, Antique Clay, Black Brown Blend and Pine Green meant to mirror classic clay surfaces. Homeowners who want something more specific can request custom color combinations.

The product also stands out for its testing credentials. Brava’s barrel tile carries Class A and Class C fire ratings along with a Class 4 impact rating, which is the industry’s highest. Wind resistance reaches up to 188 mph when installed with nails and up to 211 mph with screw fastening. The tile is also the only third party tested and Miami-Dade County approved composite Spanish profile currently verified on the market.

Homeowners often cite those advantages when weighing alternatives. Jackie Johnson of West Texas noted that the company perfectly matched a color mix that best complimented the home’s exterior design. Another homeowner said the product delivered exactly what they hoped for, praising both the appearance and the installation. Others highlight curb appeal, including Spiro K. of Charleston, who shared that people in the community regularly compliment the look of the roof.

For contractors, durability and freight savings play a role. Clay tiles are prone to breakage during shipping and handling while composite tiles reduce that risk and cut weight. Brava’s material is made from recycled content and can be recycled again if replaced.

Color variety, environmental benefits, performance ratings and lighter weight continue to draw interest, and the company encourages homeowners to review physical samples to see the differences firsthand.
