Long-Term Maintenance Contracts Substantially Increase the Lifespan of a Roof

Mike Hicks Roof Inspections
September 14, 2020 at 6:00 a.m.

RCS Influencer Mike Hicks says that they encourage all of their customers to take advantage of his company’s annual maintenance agreement.

This month’s topic is about fall inspections. Do we offer them? Yes, we do, if it's part of the annual maintenance agreement that we have with many of customers. With every new roof installation, we attempt to relay the importance that proper roof care plays on the total lifespan of the customer’s new investment. They need to take the steps to protect that investment and without proper maintenance, the potential for roofing problems will increase with each season. Just as they service their vehicles on a regular basis, we recommend that they maintain their roof at least twice a year.

When a customer purchases our annual maintenance agreement, we provide a twice-annual, spring and fall, roof inspection that includes a cleaning of all drains and debris, visual walk-over, caulk grade repairs and a written report detailing any items more substantial than caulk-grade repairs, along with a price to address and remedy those concerns. Pricing for this service is done on a five-year contract, that is paid in full at the beginning of each year and may be cancelled in writing at the end of each year. The report provided is written and includes photos. It’s convenient for the owner as it is also hosted on a private web portal for them to view at any time to help them stay up to speed on their maintenance records.

One thing that we do not do is offer free fall inspections to just anyone who asks. We will certainly go out of our way to accommodate any request from our current annual customer if they have some specific concern or a need that must be addressed, whether they have a maintenance agreement or not.
