Global growth, local roots: Reshaping roofing operations

Global growth, local roots: Reshaping roofing operations

National expansion fueled by seamless software integration and unified operations.

O’Hara’s Son Roofing, better known as OSR, has seen growth most companies can only dream about, a consistent 40 percent increase year over year for the past five years. Now, with its national service program taking shape and recent acquisitions in Phoenix, Arizona and Chicago, Illinois, the company is pairing its expansion with a streamlined operational backbone: Dataforma

“I’ve never worked for a company that grew this fast,” said Kim Baxter, OSR’s national salesperson, who was brought on to launch the company’s national service division. She credits not only leadership’s willingness to hire for growth but also the role technology plays in unifying operations. OSR’s adoption of Dataforma wasn’t by chance. Kim, a self-described super user of the platform since 2012, had already seen its capabilities tested against other widely used systems. Kim noted, “If you want to run a national service program, Dataforma is the one that works 100 percent.”

The tipping point for OSR was Dataforma’s ability to integrate seamlessly with accounting systems via an API, eliminating the headaches of mismatched invoice numbers and disconnected workflows between departments. “Everybody’s doing things the same way,” Kim said. “The silos all fall away.” Equally critical was the platform’s capacity to lock work orders to specific companies, allowing controlled access for partners while maintaining data integrity, a function Kim says is lacking in most competing platforms.

Beyond technical features, Kim praised Dataforma’s responsiveness. Whether it’s building custom templates or solving reporting issues, “You can call them, and it’s fixed immediately,” she said. “It doesn’t matter how big Dataforma gets, it still seems like a tiny company to me because I can still call the same people.”

For a company that ranked 17th on the Top 100 Contractors list two years running, OSR’s combination of aggressive growth and disciplined infrastructure could push it even higher this year. As Kim put it, “We’ve been laying low for 12 years, but you will [hear of us].”
