The contractor members of the Building Trades Employers Association [BTEA], the largest association of union contractors in New York, have always responded when New York faced its most serious challenges:  9/11, Superstorm Sandy and today the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“We have supported the Governor's efforts to keep construction job sites open,” said BTEA President, Louis J. Coletti.  “Our member contractors have implemented robust preventative protocols to protect their workers, while seeking to keep New York’s economy moving forward.  However, the current state of escalating COVID-19 cases confirms the Governor’s prudent action today in his Executive Order __ to shut down all non-essential construction job sites through April 21.”

“The protection of all our workers and all New Yorkers is paramount,” confirmed Coletti.  “We look forward to rebuilding New York’s economy when it is safe to do so.”

About the Building Trades Employers Association (BTEA)

The BTEA is the construction contractor's unified advocate for construction safety standards, professional development, government affairs, public relations and fostering communication between public officials, public and private owners, labor and the general public. Realizing that a construction industry is essential to the vibrant future of New York City, its activities are dedicated to a building environment meeting the highest of environmental standards, integrity, cost efficiency, productivity and value that contributes to improving the quality of life in New York City.

The BTEA represents 26 Construction Manager, General Contractor, Subcontractor and Specialty Trade contractor associations with over 1,300 individual contractor members. In 2017, BTEA contractors had an estimated $50 billion dollars in construction revenue in new commercial, residential, interior renovations, healthcare and public work projects.
