At this year’s International Roofing Expo (IRE), Julia Farrel, co-founder of Wryker Construction Supply, sat down with Megan Ellsworth to share how her company is carving out a unique lane in the roofing supply industry — and why safety still sits at the core of their mission.
Based in North Carolina, Wryker has expanded its footprint across the East Coast and into other states such as Texas. But it’s not just about distribution — it’s about connection. “We’re a distributor of a pretty big variety of items,” Julia explained, “anything from safety, PPE, fall protection, guardrail systems…lots of tools.” The goal is to be a one-stop resource for roofing professionals who need reliable gear and trusted support.
At the show, Wryker’s booth drew steady traffic, thanks in part to a not-so-secret special: a hefty discount on orders over $150 — but only for those who visit in person. “It’s so good we’re not blasting it out,” she shared. The exclusive offer created buzz on the floor and gave attendees an added reason to engage directly with the brand.
The conversation also touched on National Women in Roofing Day, where Julia attended a roundtable for female business owners. “It was just a room full of women who owned companies talking about the common struggles we face and how we deal with challenges,” she said. “I got a lot out of that.”
Julia also mentioned one of the most overlooked yet vital safety items: trauma straps. These compact devices connect to harnesses and can be lifesaving in the event of a fall, helping to preserve circulation and buy time for rescue.
Wryker is continuing to evolve, with new products constantly being added online — and even a personal touch on the way. “I’m working on a thank-you video for orders placed on our website,” Julia teased. “It will feature my dog.” It’s a small gesture that reflects the company’s hands-on, customer-first approach as it grows.
