Bridging the gap between craftsman and businessman

Bridging the gap between craftsman and businessman

Learn how ABC Supply’s tailored support helps contractors manage finances and keeps projects on track.

Many people in the roofing profession are craftspeople first and business owners second. This is why ABC Supply developed their Customer Financial Services (CFS) program to help contractors manage their finances and keep their projects on track. In a new episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Karen Edwards sat down with Kerry Cloyd, the VP of CFS at ABC, to talk about the program and how it works.

At its core, CFS is a flexible program that gives contractors the ability to navigate financial hurdles unique to the industry. Kerry elaborated, “Whether you're just starting out or maybe you've been a contractor for a long time, that's where we come in. We can design tailored financial services and tools to address the unique challenges contractors face, trying to simplify that financial management so you can focus on what you do best.”

One of the primary ways it does this is by helping contractors utilize flexible credit lines. Kerry explained, “The biggest thing is we offer flexible credit lines, and we do that via job accounts. Our credit lines can grow with our contractors, aligning our terms with job completion and customer payments.” To be clear, these lines are not like installment loans (think the way you pay off a car). Instead, these accounts create payment terms that increase the purchasing power of the contractor. Kerry explained, “The job accounts really increase the purchasing power for our contractors because it gives us an avenue to secure our interest in that job, both for ABC Supply and for the contractor themselves with the building owner or the GC.”

The CFS program also provides the contractors with a team of experts that can help contractors with various construction lien and bond laws. Kerry shared, “Each state has mechanics, lien laws. It's a great tool for contractors to use to ensure they get paid for the great service and products that they supply to building owners, property owners, homeowners, et cetera.”

And all of these services are easily managed through ABC’s online account management program. Accessible either online or through the myABCsupply app, this allows contractors to get invoices quickly, set up automatic payments with ease and download statements whenever you need. Kerry summed it up, saying, “Ultimately, this lets contractors look at their own finances and be better businesspeople when they have the time.”
