Be a pro at cash flow

Meet ABC’s CFS program, the key to keeping your competitive edge in the roofing business.  

Cash flow is often one of the biggest daily concerns for contractors. Without reliable cash flow, it is hard to take on new jobs or continue to grow your business. This is something that has become even more obvious in a post-COVID-19 world. As Kerry Cloyd, the VP of Customer Financial Services (CFS) at ABC Supply, observed, “We’ve seen a lot of contractors have difficulties collecting from customers, insurance companies and general contractors. These delayed collections can damage their employee relationships if payroll can’t be made. That then impacts project timelines and business reputation.”  

In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Kerry shares how ABC’s CFS program helps contractors take control of their cash flow and avoid those challenges.

The CFS program provides customized financial solutions that work to bridge cash flow gaps by offering flexible credit options. Kerry explained, “The biggest thing is we offer flexible credit lines, and we do that via job accounts. Our credit lines can grow with our contractors, aligning our terms with job completion and customer payments.”  

These plans are not only customized to each contractor’s unique situation and needs, but also to each specific job. Kerry elaborated, “We customize solutions for any size job, for any size contractor. We know projects can get intricate and lengthy with delays.” In order to give this customized and individual help, ABC ensures that there is a local contact for their contractors to go to throughout the financing process. Kerry explained, “You start with your salesman who is right there on the ground with you to support you. They can call one of our many credit analysts to dive into the details and contracts that you're thinking of bidding on or quoting. This helps our team align our terms and our credit agreements with that particular project coming up.”

If it gets more complicated, the salesperson can bring the branch manager and larger CFS team in to help – at no extra cost to the contractor. Kerry summarized, “It's very important to communicate, we want to make sure we have all of our ducks in a row to ensure the best products get up to that roof, on time with ABC's delivery promise and to make sure you can start your job off on the right foot, both with the supplies and the financial tools backing you.”
