Are you properly equipped for the job?

Equipter Properly Equipped

By Dani Sheehan.

Learn how putting the right technology in the hands of your crews can help them do their job safely, efficiently and in a way that homeowners love.

Who doesn’t love new, shiny equipment, especially when it makes your job easier? In Season 5, Episode 75 of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Dave Beiler of Equipter to discuss his company’s revolutionary self-propelled roofing trailer, which allows contractors to spend more time focused on getting the job done right and less time on cleaning up the debris later. Recognizing that equipment is a significant investment, he also talked to Heidi about starting their rental program to give contractors easier access to the Equipter without breaking the bank.

Debris management is a big part of each roofing project, and as Heidi pointed out, it can be a huge safety concern, potentially interfering with whatever is directly below the roof. Dave said this was a significant factor in the design process. He shared, “When you’re looking at an average project size, a house roof has anywhere from seven to 10,000 pounds of debris. If you have one piece of equipment and one guy taking that debris, you’re saving yourself a lot of time. And instead of having a mess on the property, as neighbors are driving by, they see a clean job site, they see good equipment, they see innovation that your company is serious about the process.”

The feedback they’ve gotten over the years has been nothing but positive, saving time and labor on the job site while also keeping crews safer by not having to carry heavy materials up and down a ladder all day long. Having the right equipment is a smart investment, but Dave recognized that it can be a costly investment also. Of the rental program, Dave mentioned some of the initial benefits: “We’re finding for one, there’s less initial upfront cost. Another benefit is you don’t have to store it. And it gives contractors the ability to try it out for several weeks, to see what it does. We’ve seen with crews that it takes two, three, maybe four weeks for them to get used to implementing it in their system.”

Most of the crews that rent it for a while end up saying they’ll never go back to their old way. Read the transcript or Listen to the podcast to hear more about this innovative equipment and why it’s changing the game for roofing jobs.
