This summer, Malarkey Roofing Products celebrated a huge milestone – their 500th roofing materials donation! The 500throof was a special donation to the Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) and part of their long-lasting relationship in providing COHFH with donated roofing materials for the greater good.
Jay Kreft, Malarkey’s VP of manufacturing, shared, “We have worked together with COHFH since our Oklahoma City manufacturing plant opened in 2012. Members of our team here have volunteered their own time to frame walls and help with construction at building sites. In the plant, we have worked together to provide high-performance, sustainable roofing products for all 500 Habitat homes and many more roofs across Oklahoma and the country.”
The 500th roof features Malarkey Vista® shingles in the Weathered Wood Plus color blend. Vista shingles were chosen for the project because of their proven performance in storm-prone regions like Oklahoma. This roof will protect the COHFH building for years, with benefits likes:
In addition to the incredible, all-weather durability of the Vista shingles, these shingles also deliver a variety of sustainability benefits. The NEX® asphalt used in the shingle is made of upcycled plastic and rubber material polymers. For this project, the reusing of materials is equivalent to 1,375 rubber tires and 860,000 plastic bags diverted from the landfill. Vista shingles also incorporate Malarkey’s 3M™ Smog-Reducing Granules which improve the air quality around the roof.
Ann Felton Gilliland, CEO and chair of COHFH, put it simply, “We couldn’t ask for more dedicated partners than Malarkey Roofing Products. They sponsored the home build, helped build the Habitat house and [it’s not the first time, this] marks the 500th roof covered by the company’s Class 4 hail-resistant shingles.”
