Roofing Innovations 804.614.6555    Website

This position is critical in our delivery of quality, comprehensive work. The Lead Estimator is tasked with creating repair and re-roof estimates, managing scope of the projects and verifying jobs were completed according to scope. Collaboration is a must as proposals are created with sales people, and work in progress may require input from technicians and superintendents. Unique to our company culture is the level of trust we place in our Superintendent and Technicians to provide feedback and insights that may adjust scope.

Our primary work is in service and repair. This work allows us to participate in re-roof projects where we have existing relationships with the asset owners. We do not participate in new construction projects. Our primary business is in service and repair. Our secondary business is in re-roofs. In many of our repair estimates our Technicians and Foremen are used to identify deficiencies. From their photos, notes, and measurements you will be tasked with creating a written scope of work and materials list. The re-roofing proposals will be more traditional in our approach to estimates.

Opportunity

This position has a salary range of $75k to $85k with benefits and bonus opportunities. In this position you will collaborate with sales and installation teams. You will also work independently in compiling estimates for both low slope and steep slope roofing systems. We help owners of large asset holdings find ways to extend their roof life through strategic repairs. Our philosophy is to repair first, replace last. This approach creates a high volume of smaller estimates, which leads to a handful of large re-roof estimates. It also requires an estimator to identify roof deficiencies and propose the best way to remedy the deficiencies. That practical knowledge allows us to solve roofing problems that others cannot, which makes us a trusted resource for our repeat customers.

Skills

We service all types of roofs. You will need to have extensive roofing knowledge that will allow you to find solutions and create estimates for steep and low slope roof systems. This also means you’ll need all of the skills that go into estimating; including math, being able to read blueprints, knowing construction processes and techniques, familiarity with local building codes, negotiating with vendors and subcontractors, and using computer programs. Having your OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour card would be great, and we’d get you signed up to receive that certification.

In this position a large portion of your estimates will be generally smaller than 5-10 sq, and will seek to provide permanent repair solutions to leaks and other roof issues. It is important to have a thorough understanding of the products we use and how to utilize them to identify leaks, their causes, and the permanent solutions.

It is also critical that you are able to communicate with others in a collaborative fashion (remember our core value of “No Jerks”). You will need to exhibit leadership and an ability to help others recognize your vision, while being open to input and insight from others. Additionally, you will need to work with roofing manufacturers for potential repair and re-roof solutions. Those relationships will also help you stay up to date with new industry developments and products.

There are times when we are asked to look at the rest of the building envelope. You’ll need to understand construction principles and building codes so you can help find solutions to moisture problems outside of our regular roofing solutions.

Requirements

In addition to the right skills, there are a few requirements that enable you to complete the required work.

Valid driver’s license
Basic Computer / math skills
Comfortable climbing ladders
Able to lift 50 lbs
Compensation:

Base Salary
Bonus Eligible
Paid Vacation
Medical benefits
Company Vehicle
Cell Phone
Computer
