best brand of asphalt roofing material in NY

Hi- I would like to know your recommendation for the best type of asphalt roofing material in the Hudson Valley NY area.I would like to avoid the "Big boxes" please--any other recommendation would be great. Thanks a lot.>>>

I'm in Michigan and we share the same climate and weather conditions. In my opinion Certainteed's high end shingles (Landmark TL for example) are the best. Followed closely by Elk's high end line. You do mean for pitched residential roof I assume?>>>
