I have spent the past few weeks meeting with some key players in the roofing industry, and there is a consensus that commercial roof buyers are changing. They do not want to meet and they do not want to even talk on the phone. Your kids and grandkids who you have watched text and listen to Ipods for the past ten years are graduating from college and they will change the game. FCS is building products that allow contractors to do business on their terms and are looking for individuals in the roofing industry interested in setting up contractors: http://youtu.be/BbR1PQZ9F54

Estimators on Call

There is no substitute for an in-person meeting. However you can use your time wisely. Aerial Measurements, and pre-written estimates, along with a proposal on an effective maintenance program will get you more success than waiting for a chance to drag a facilities manager out on a hot or wet roof with you.

I would agree that technology is coming and those that are working in facilities management are looking to get that information in a clearer way. Speak their language and use the KISS principal.

I have customers that come to the table at the bid meeting with those things in place, and when the contractors are excused to go measure the roof, my customer sits and talks with the facilities manager with all effective info in hand. Increases closing opportunities by quite a bit.

So, that would leave mostly bean counter type customers who would select their contractors exclusively by the lowest number that appeared on their screen?

I wouldn't dream of doing ANY roofing project without eye to eye contact and a COMPLETE understanding of what is offered and expected from both parties. JMO.......
