Learn how Rocky Mountain Snow Guard's professional service helps this contractor.

When Owen Enterprises Inc. changed over a worn cedar shake roof to a DaVinci Multi-Width Slate roof the transformation was incredible. More than just eye-catching, the physical aspect was different.

Gone were the porous shakes that could absorb fallen snow. In its place were slick synthetic shakes that shed accumulated snow quickly, in an avalanching type of fashion. Not to worry. Having worked before with the DaVinci product, Scott Owen and his team anticipated this situation. So, they reached out to Rocky Mountain Snow Guards for assistance.

“We’ve been using snow retention systems from Rocky Mountain Snow Guards for about 15 years on a monthly basis,” says Scott, president of Owen Enterprises Inc., out of Lombard, Illinois. “We value their free quote and layout services and used them for this project.”

Relying on professionals

As with other projects, Scott simply sent the Eagleview™ plans they had for the home to the team at Rocky Mountain Snow Guards. Within days he received a color-coded layout with recommendations for RG16s installed 12” on center spaced every 96” up to the peak, starting on the third course. Detailed notes and renderings provided additional support for the project.

“The paperwork showed us we needed 1,022 RG-16s to complete the project, where to place them and how far apart to install them,” says Scott. “This is the kind of professional service we rely on from Rocky Mountain Snow Guards.”

Delivering long-lasting results

Because the homeowners wanted a durable, easy to maintain product, they chose the synthetic slate roofing. The snow retention system designed especially for this specific home assures melting snow will not avalanche off the roof during the winter months.

“The homeowners desired an easy-care solution for their roof,” says Scott. “We gave them that by marrying together the DaVinci roof with the snow guards from Rocky Mountain Snow Guards. In the end they got a visually appealing roof with products backed by exceptional warranties.”
