In a recent episode of People Make Roofing, co-hosts Luke McCormack of Roofing Talent America and Heidi J. Ellsworth of RoofersCoffeeShop® sat down with Bryan Pribula, branch manager for Eskola Roofing in Nashville, Tennessee. Bryan’s journey into the roofing industry wasn’t a traditional one – and that’s exactly what makes his story so inspiring for the next generation of roofing professionals.
Bryan started his career in corporate finance and aviation, but the 2008 recession prompted him to rethink his path. Reflecting on his family’s background in engineering, trades and construction, Bryan searched for a career that would be both resilient and rewarding. “I was trying to find out what’s going to be a good career path – something almost recession-proof that could stand the test of time and still provide for my family down the road,” he shared.
His transition into the construction industry began at Lowe’s corporate headquarters, where he managed large exterior and interior construction sales teams. It was there that he realized the value of relationship-building, a principle that still drives his work today: “People buy from people. We want to build long-term partnerships, not just chase short-term gains.”
He then joined Baker Roofing and learned the technical side of the industry with the help of industry consultants. Determined not just to participate but to lead with expertise, he read and studied the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) manual to refine his knowledge. He explained, “I want to be a shining star so when I am in front of people, they understand what I’m talking about – and it’s the real deal, not just a facade.”
At Eskola Roofing, Bryan now manages one of the company’s largest and most dynamic branches. He finds the greatest reward in the team culture: “It’s like an orchestra – [there’s] beauty in hearing the music behind the scenes and seeing everyone’s forte and being able to coach them through the moments they need help... The biggest reward is that you see the passion behind what they’re doing,” he shared.
Bryan’s journey reminds us that roofing is so much more than a trade – it's a thriving, people-first industry with limitless potential for those willing to roll up their sleeves and lead with heart.
