A Day in the Life at Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc.

WTI Tremco A Day in the Life
March 22, 2019 at 6:12 p.m.

By Karen L. Edwards, RCS Editor.

Every day feels like a new day with different challenges and rewards.

Tremco and WTI have been a partner with the Coffee Shop for quite some time now. As editor at RCS, I get the chance to interview and communicate with many different employees at Tremco and WTI. There is one thing that really stood out for me in these conversations – everyone I talk to loves working for the company!

We wanted to find out more about what working at the company is like and decided to send some questions over to WTI’s administrative assistants’ team and get the inside scoop. Most likely you envision an administrative assistant sitting at a desk in the office where they provide support to other team members. That is not the case if you are an admin for WTI. Each one of them works from home and provides support for the teams that are working out in the field, including regional managers, technicians and more.

Employees answering our questions were Lindsey Tyler, Carlata Stewart, Kimi Sweatt, Arlene Lawson, Brittany Randall and Kim Richards. Based on their responses to our questions, there really isn’t a ‘typical’ day. Every day brings something new and interesting. Kim Richards said that on a daily basis, she is managing reports for managers, helping to back up the dispatcher for her region, booking travel for technicians who are on the road and keeping track of training. Kim also schedules toolbox talks for Georgia, Alabama, Florida and the MidAtlantic region.

Brittany Randall said that it’s hard to put into words what she does every day. She tracks bids and logs them for her region. She also helps to coordinate projects, handling travel and making sure the techs have dumpsters and lists that they need on site. “I handle any little thing that may pop up along the way,” explained Brittany. “There’s always something new!”

Carlata Stewart agrees that every day is different. “There are days you face challenges, which are not always the same each day… but as with most challenges, we do not run from them or hide them, we face them and find solutions to resolve them,” Carlata said. “For example, you could have techs traveling that have a flight delayed or cancelled as they are at a connecting airport… but you have to be quick on your feet and calm as possible while you make arrangements for the tech to be safe and comfortable as well as peaceful during such a frustrating moment.”

Lindsey Tyler says she is happiest with her days when she is able to assist someone in the field and make their day a little easier. “My position as an administrator is strongly focused towards assisting those in the field, and the field is where my heart is. I have always had a passion to help serve those that are truly the face of the company,” she said. “The more I am doing to help the field, the happier I am, and the better they are able to represent all of us here at Tremco/WTI.”

Kimi Sweatt says it’s the little things during her day that make her happy. “When my guys tell me I’m awesome for something so simple, when my supervisor calls to check up on me, just to make sure I’m ok, or out the blue we have a group chat with our team and everyone just seems so happy to hear from each other,” she explained. She also loves that she is able to laugh a lot with her team and that they truly care about her well-being. “My supervisor/boss both care about my well-being - you can feel it,” she said.  “This job helps me be a better mom. I’m a single parent and I can finally be here for my daughter and my kitty. This company is a true blessing! In all aspects.”

Arlene Lawson agrees. She is the lead administrator for eight other regional admins in addition to the support she provides for her regional business manager, supervisors, foremen and technicians. Like most of the others, Arlene said that having great relationships with her team and being able to help resolve questions and problems is what makes her happiest.

So, there you have it! These admins are able to enjoy the balance that comes from working at home but get the benefit of being part of a larger team and company with an outstanding culture.  Carlata perhaps summed it up best when she said, “I love the ability to work from home, I love the company benefits and generosity of the overall company as well as the values WTI upholds.  I enjoy the easy-going and family-oriented dynamic of the corporation. I enjoy the flexibility and ability to work from wherever I am in the world.”

In case you were wondering, the company is hiring! Learn more about career opportunities at WTI.
