Uplifted shingles in every area of roof..detachment at one side of each seam all the way up step and shingles missing in just a few spots...what would you do? I know what I do but some Ins. companies adjusters disagree. They will never seal back down and>>>

Well Thanks for the Incite Jet.

I'm new here & finding this very informative.

Although just a crude old beat up roofer. Trying to keep the kids in shoes hoping they will be smart enough to get collage scholarships because I don't make enough to pay for it in this industry. And any body making my job harder ??? well let's just say I'm a crude old roofer

Jet I edited my comment but I can't edit the Quote can you.

I definitely don't want to make any body mad.

KC Joe Said: Im in the same boat.

A potential coustomer has 3 or 4 missing shingles & calls me.

I find the side getting the uplift not the direct winds where damaged more. The seals are broke & a lot of the nails are pulled through the shingle at the inside rake end of the shingle

I inform the home owner how its worse then it appears and needs replacement due to storm damage and if I only do the obvious from the ground repairs its going to do it again next good wind.

Then he calls his Ins. & they say no & pays for the minor repairs themselves to get the claim closed discrediting me.

Them F!!!!!! Insurance Adjustors dont Know chit about roofing.

Chit most of them dont even Know how to measure a roof let alone assess damage

Careful there KC........our resident adjuster/roofer/bible-thumper might come after 'ya on that point :P :P

Here is the best I could find on it on short notice.

http://www.callpie.com/articles/articles/45/1/Appraisal-And-Umpire-Processes-For-Settling-Disputes/Page1.html

It is written about in the HAAG publications.

If you do a lot of storm work, you should get the HAAG Roof Certification by taking their class.

Darn a lot of them don't even Know how to measure a roof let alone assess damage

I do like them when they give you 40 sq's on a 30 sq job though>>>

Broken sealant is a damage to the shingle which either requires repair or replacement if the damage is significant enough.

Get some information from the manufacturer to back you up on that point, especially regarding the warranty remaining intact.

Thats what I am doing...have 35 jobs sold just haggling with adjusters...some ins companies are better than others. some are trying to say loose shingles are not covered just missing ones.lol>>>

First, get another adjuster out.

Or, request that they apply the DURA formula for repair versus replacement.

It is spelled out in their HAAG training publications if they were certified by them for forensic analysis.

From what I have been told, the c>>>
