So . . . . do you spend the money on a port-o-potty on residential jobs? Do your employees piss in the bushes?

Historically, I haven't supplied them but I'm thinking about it. On new construction jobs there usually at least one there. It might be a selling point. If you ask the question to a home owner, they just might agree that it's worth paying a little bit more to know that their neighbors aren't going to catch a roofer whipping it out and pissing in our yard.

What do you think?

I know in theory, the crews are supposed to be mobile and they guys will just drive to the nearest public restroom. Do they??

Back in the '70s when we did do new construction; the basements where never poured with concrete yet. There was no port-o-let toilets on site either. The unfinished basement was fair game for all trades at any given time. Everyone took their turn; Push a little dirt to the side w/ your shoe and let it rip and yes; shingle wrappers you took w/ you. You knew what the other tradesmen were heading when they grabbed one of our papers. Being the roofers; one might think we were the first to use these facilities; but when we arrived there was allready all kinds of fuzzy things dowm there. It must have been before the Port-o-dump was invented. About 10 years ago a roofer working for my brother's roofing co was doing a new house and the basement was finished. The guy went to the basement with an empty nail box and left his masterpiece in the box. The builder would not pay my brother untill Picasos' masterpiece was removed. That reminds me that thats one of the things I should have invented; my name is not john but I'll bet he's got a life of luxury where its warm. Are the basements floors already poured when the roofs go on these days? My roofing co hasent done one since the 70s-----------------------------H>>>

We were roofing a new five story a few years back, and one of the guys peed down a drain. A few minutes later a mad mofo plumber came up on the roof blazing. It seems that the pipes weren't yet connected down below, and this plumber was in the process when the yellow river came down

The super threatened to run us off the job if it ever happened again (we learned about his "policies" as we went along).>>>

Had a guy pee down a vent pipe once and a few minutes latter the homeowner came out screaming. It appears that the pipe was cut off when a new kitchen was installed and it leaked out of a light fixture in the ceiling >>>

OLE Willie

Lets see! I've seen them pee down a pipe, in a corner, behind the bushes, beside the chimney, in the dead valley, go to the store to pee and come back stoned lol , you name it! If i ordered a port-o-potty the job would be done before it got there most of the time! Personally i prefer peeing on the roof while doing estimates, that is when there's a spot with no direct lines of vision from any nearby houses and the H.O. is not home! lol If not then bushes and corners around back are good! lol It's weird how i usually get the sale when i pee on the job. Like a rotweiler marking his territory! Fire Away!!!>>>
