I had a person ask me about oak shakes I have been around cedar shakes. Any comments would be helpfull. Thanks Chuck>>>
Do oak shakes exist as a viable roofing covering? This is the question that I posed on various search engines, most notably, GOOGLE, in a valiant attempt to find an answer to this simple question. The answer, as far as I could determine, is that there is no current existence of an oak shake currently being used as a viable roof covering in this nation.>>>
I've installed Oak Shakes. They go on differently then Cedar. We torch them down.>>>

The Roofing God Said:go to my account and change your colors

The tower in Greenbush (Scituate) MA was resided with cypress shingles.... now those were some tough things to cut with a stanley knife.>>>
Pine shakes weree utilized around here a few years ago.....I don't believe oak would hold up as compared to cedar....What is the claimed benifit?>>>
There all a bunch of jokers, and yes there comments are amusing, i don't think a Oak Shake exists. If it did how could you charge by the Sq.... it would be astonishing, must admit it would look very nice, but you can't cost justify it?>>>
Yes. Got them from Virginia. (not shakes...these were wood shingles)
Hard to cut with a knife.
Butt them tight, they shrink.
BTW, I would post here more often but the color and design are hard on my eyes.

I'm guessing this is not a standard roofing product, I will be meeting with the person on Monday and try to talk them into something different like Decra steel Shake profile.>>>
Oak is easier to spell than cedar
