I had my first experience as a local roofing contractor dealing with" me" an out of town stormier. Dissociative identity disorder? Is it a myth or a reality? I have been on the road all month. I'm in Boulder Colorado at the moment. I receive a phone call first of the month from an old customer about a leak. The project was completed 8years ago. I can't deal with it from here. I told them to get someone else. I had promised them with my local roofing contractor personality I would service the account for the life of the roof. Now I'm a stormier moving about the country. Is it plausible for me to hide under a "disease of the human mind?" defense?

Lanny Most times I don't have the problem of not being able to sleep, Tonight unfortunately is not one of them. Changing time zones is a challenge. I'll be up this morning at 4am and on the road. Back to Florida and possible back up in the La Texas Miss Alabama area next week with the real potential of a major event upon us, A leak is always a serious and immediate problem for those suffering one. I will be on the roof Monday if possible. I have explained the situation to the customer. They know I am out of town, I didn't and won;t lie to them, facts are facts,

Steven that is a good point. I didn't say I wasn't going to service the account. What I said was if they could not wait for me to get back to service them they could get someone else. It is out of warrnaty by 7 years. That being said, It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat. Life is full B) :) :) B)

If I understand your post correctly-8 years ago you promised your customer to service the account for the life of the roof------ in other words- you promised something you aren't going to deliver on!

as a "local" roofing contractor- this is EXACTLY what I expect from storm chasers- and it's why I can't believe any homeowner would do business with a storm chaser

local variation here has been- well Steve- whe are having Storm Chaser Inc. do the roof- they were a lower price than you quoted---- AND we get a TEN YEAR WARRANTY!!!!!!

3 months later- when the roof leaks- the storm chaser isn't even in the state--and what's that 10 year warranty worth then????????

my neighborhood had a hail storm a couple years ago- today i walk my dog about the neighborhood and look at all the "new" roofs with shingles sliding off and chimney flashing flapping in the wind-when we get calls from these homeowners- I have ZERO sympathy

8 years ago- you promised to service the account for the life of the roof--- so either you are man of your word-or you aren't- it's that simple.

Yeah, I am still employed by the same company. I own it. Mostly small repairs when I am around. Playing both ends against the middle. Life is full and interesting. B) :) :side: :silly: :woohoo: :woohoo: :side: :) B) The sun is wearing the latest style "Chuck Norris" glasses

Are you still employed by the company that did the job?

If not, did you give the customer the current number of the company?

People take other jobs all the time. I don't call anyone after 8 years and expect them to be still in the same job, same capacity.
