Well the ball finally is rolling. Yesterday we deposed the "expert" who re-roofed the HOA buildings last month (after using OUR roof for the last five years). Turns out he was not only their final "expert" (hired by the HOA attorney) but he also OWNS THE ROOFING COMPANY that got the low bid out of five others ;) ;) This guy is a real scumbag. Said he "couldn't remember what the bid was" Worst of all, we had to pay HIM to hear these lies ($700). It's all on paper now though so he's stuck. Might just go after him next. He only has an RC license, not state, so I might have him on license fraud as the job was in another county. He said the local building dept. didn't even do a final inspection, just looked at his plans. Believe me, in this state that just doesn't happen. It's state law now that you have to have TWO inspections, dry-in and final. I'm wondering now if he even pulled a permit. I dunno guys, this whole thing has really soured me on our profession. If this guy is any example of a "quality" contractor this world's in big trouble. I'm on for today and then next week we have several more. Legal bill should hit $90K before the trial date comes. The other side has prolly spent twice that. Worst thing is that their residents don't even know they're wasting this money. Old people don't count I guess.......sad.

Jet if you weren't such a rube yourself you would know that the cattle are under the trees not because of the shade . ;) ;) Just to keep clear of all the para gliders and ultralights falling out of the sky. sheech any body that's any body knows that. ;) I bet even Tiger and Shag know that. :P :P>>>

I guess you are what you think you are......can't help you there. I do know there are people who can help you with your self-image. They're in the phone book......yellow pages. As far as being on "every beach in FL" I have to question that one. There's a TON of beachfront in FL and I highly doubt you've "seen it all". Since we've done roofs in Naples AND the Everglades I'll be glad to give you the low-down on that area. Can't help you on St. Augustine though, we stopped service north of Daytona a few years ago. So, where do you live now?

Oh I forget to mention, I am the biggest Rube of all. I bought the house for 250, sold it for 400 and laughed behind the buyers back. A few years later, he sold it for a million smackers.>>>

Miscreant

I became part of the local rubery when I bought a house on the beach in Seagrove, what we used to call part of the Redneck Riveria. It was 18 miles to the nearest grocery store if you didn't want to pay triple retail at Georges market. I liked it because it seemed at the time to be a part of Florida that was slowly getting eaten away.

Except for The Everglades South of Naples and that little section of Florida North of St Augustine, I've been on every beach in Florida. I met people that were wealthy, poor, used to have money, will never have money and everybody in between, but I never met any Floridan that had Class. If your Drivers License says Fla on it you have given up the right to call anybody Low Class.>>>

Sorry if you took offense to the "lower class" side of the state Chucky. I did say "no offense". You need to take a day trip up to Isleworth (you know, where Shaq, Tiger and the others live?) We've got many jobs in your area and if you're on the beach (in Zephyrhills) what are those cattle doing under all of the shade trees? Don't think they allow livestock on the beach, not yet anyway. Your located so many miles from the coast you can't even SMELL the gulf. Now, take a day trip down to Sarasota or Bradenton beach and I MIGHT give you props for at least SOME class. No, Pasco county is about as low-life as it comes my friend. I know, I live in FL. Rubes from other states who visit once a year don't have a clue either. Thank God they can find their way home.

JET

PS: What was that CCC number again? I'm still trying to find out about your "roofing" career here in FL. Can't find a thing with your name on it.>>>

That was an eye opener. I hope I read it right and it was the other attorney not yours. When that kinda crap starts happening you can rest assured the guy is going to screw it up. I know you can not trust someone who cheats on his spouse. If they do it with ya , they will do it to ya . Now you have some position if you want to pursue it. The guys wife blundered in a huge way by humiliating him in public. Though I guess at that point it may have helped out . I don't need to tell you where this is Jet . Why do you keep insisting you know nothing . Very disingenuous . In your opinion I'm from the lower class part of the state. I would have to guess that this is one of your better professional opinions. They are like Arseholes . I mean for the love of GOD man .No one wants to live by the water , pristine white sandy beaches , boating , nice cool breezes, nothing less than gorgeous sunsets .A boating paradise. Real estate that cannot be had anywhere . The lower class of the state . hmmm !! That must be why so many famous personalities live here . If you knew that this is the lower class of the state then why the inquiry of where. It's becoming fishy smelling . All of this supposed inquiry . tch tch . In very bad taste. I hope everything goes alright in your case. In the almost 30yrs I have been roofing. Never never had a court case or anything like you are involved in. Always did the right thing . Tends to make me wonder what is going on hmmmm. ;) ;) Happy 4th back at you. If your stupid enough to blow off a few digits have at it.>>>

CIAK Said: Jet It does happen all the time in this state. You have to call the inspection in yes. They have the option to look at it or not. When it was so damn hot this last couple of weeks . I called in a dry in. The inspector came out pulled up across the road looked through his window ( didnt even bother to roll it down ) drove off . Inspection done. You are well aware this happens all the time. Final last week . Called it in . Inspector drove up pulled the final paper work of the wall . Left the permit card . Drove off . Never looked at install. This happens to me 99% of the inspections I call in. I never question it . I just guess they know my work so well they dont have to look at it. I know them all by name anyway . They know me . I guess my CCC # must be good enough for them. B) ;) ;)

No it doesn't Chucky, even though you are on the "lower class" side of the state, no offense. BTW what county/city is doing these "drive-by" inspections, we'll have to let the state know about it. FYI, it really hurts you in the end (if you are indeed the license holder, which I know you're not or you'd post your number). This (central FL) area is anal about inspections, especially the city building depts. The counties are in such financial trouble that they're laying everyone off but we still get next day inspections.

Now, back to the deposition issue. Did mine yesterday, seven hours straight, no breaks. It was classic!! We have these guys covered from A to Z. They've never met a truly professional company that covers all the bases. The documents alone that we have take up a 9x12 room full of boxes :woohoo: Their attorney was just grasping at straws but there was an answer or document to prove everything we did. Funny thing happened, since it was almost 8PM when we finished their atty. called his wife and we could hear he was getting his azz chewed, big time. She even hung up on him. When he came back to the conference room I asked him if he was in trouble. I even offered to write him a note for his wife :P :P See, contractors are human too. Well, about 90 minutes later we're eating dinner at our Italian restaurant nearby and my wife's cell phone rings. She answers it and it's this attorney  He asks my wife to talk to his wife and explain he was really at this deposition and not out having an affair :woohoo: :woohoo: Man, I was stunned! He puts his wife on the phone with mine and she assures her we were all doing the depo until after 7PM. The wife apologized and said she was an attorney also with two small children so she didn't trust him (I guess). Can you guys believe this? I dunno, life gets more weird by the day down here in la-la land. Y'all have a great 4th and remember to not blow any digits off!

Ed The Roofer

The "Roofing Contractor" who wound up finishing the roof that I had to pull off of due to not getting my contractually required on job start payment and we still worked on a Good Faith Basis, 2 years and 10 months ago is not Licensed in Illinois, and neither is the subcontractor who actually performed the work.

I have only around $15.000.00 of legal bills totaled up so far though.

I would check with the building department to see if he actually did or did not get a permit and then use any information to hang the SOB, if I were in your shoes.
