I bid a job installing pressure treated cedar shakes and pole gutters. I figured on using lead coated copper for the gutters, the 3 other prices were figured using bright copper. The customer is unsure about the extra expense. I feel that when using pressure treated shakes you should use a coated copper because of the chemicals in the shakes making pin holes in the copper. Does anyone else see this the same way and has anyone seen something in writing on this subject. Thanks>>>
As I recall, cedar shakes when hit by rain, will provide a tannic acid. Copper is very susceptible to acid, whereas lead is not.>>>
..........that should read PERCIEVED HAZARDS of lead......we used to put down flat roofs in lead sheet day in and day out years ago.........didn't do me any harm OK jedd I'll bite , Have you looked at your Avatar????????? Maybe that finger thing sticking through your nose has nothing to do with LEAD . You can't make an argument from there that will stick. I'll admit it gives me the creeps I mean that just ain't right . Or I could be wrong back in the day I have snorted a lot of Asbestos from shingle tear offs>>>
It's also called a Yankee gutter or Philadelphia gutter. A gutter built on top of the roof using a 2X4 stood on end and covered in copper>>>

I have seen different reactions using the same products but in different areas. I use copper plus now for all wood roofs treated or not. Copper plus looks like copper but has a stainless steel heart so nothing will burn through. Hope your using stainless nails with those treated shingles. Also lead coated copper is being fazed out because of the hazards of lead. Take a look at freedom gray copper from revere. It is zinc coated copper and looks like lead coated.>>>
