I believe roofing cement is NOT compatible with modified bitumen. The other day I saw someone (claiming to be a roofer)...install pitch pans (on a torch grade modified roof system) using roof cement and mop grade modified. I feel this is not a proper installation.......but I could be wrong. I'd like some feedback. Thanks.
Ultra is considered compatible with SBS and APP. I know Karnak states that, and I know of several roofing companies here using it on a regular basis. I have on occasion and haven't come across any incompatibilities on new or old patches done by myself or others.

Thanks. As far as a torched down roof (aka as APP) using a roof cement is in essence considered a "temporary fix". The best advise is to contact the manufacturer of the APP modified membrane for proper application procedures.
The mod bit adhesive is so runny now days its ridiculous. I use it in spite of this because it is so called made for the product. But the rake edges will not stick down well with the adhesive. So at the bottoms and the rake edges I use plastic roof cement. Adhesive for the laps.
Ultra19 works fine. It comes in winter or summer grade, 3gal, or 5gal cans.
We have been trying all the different types around in our area, with little to no success. It's either watery, or thick. Once you open the can, you have to use it up within a day or two. It wants to crack or peel back (shrinks). It seems most people in our area are having the same problem. I just talked to my son about the importance of the actual installation, NOT having to depend on the roof cements. Getting Fabric to stick to some is almost impossible. Ever since they took the asbestos out, it seems they all stink.
I like to use modified bitumen products on modified bitumen...call me crazy.
The cost of a 5gallon bucket of mulehide bull and a 3.5 gallon bucket of mod bit adhesive is close enough to the same at ABC.
Gardner makes one that I keep in the van at all times. Red gallon, says "LEAK SToPPER" sold at Lowe's. Works great for modified bitumen. I emailed Gardner and asked, because I had lap joints leaking on a bank building. The previous installer had heated the modified and tried to get it to stick to the granules. It didn't.
If they heat it to the point where they can scrape the granules or the granules will be embedded into asphalt the roof cement will stick.
Depends on the type of adhesive. There are many specific adhesives for Modified Bits. http://www.henry.com/roofing/asphaltroofcoatings/coldapplied/553modbitadhesive B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day
