Well we've all commented on the quality of the workmanship and photos of our New Zealand friend Mike. Apparently someone liked his work so much that they chose to copy the photos to their website.
What I found particularly interesting is the way the site never makes the claim that these are their roofs, but of course anyone with a brain would make the association.

I hope that this is a case where a web designer stole the pics, but if they refuse to take them down, I hope y'all will join in the crusade to get the word out.
I thought this was particularly timely given one of Vickie's questions last week.
My friends own a very large window manufacturing company. One of their crew got a hold of a DVD put out by one their competitors. When they looked at it they had my friends house in it with the windows HE made. Was it calculated or just the world biggest mistake. What are the chances you are taking photos and claiming the work as your own AND it's your competitors house. Needless to say action is being taken.
Hi egg,
Life is good despite our little countries economic mishap :woohoo:
Guys not sure if this is possible but it might be an idea to remove the links to the offending web site, far as I know they count as back links making the offending site more popular in the eyes of Google algorithms (big word might have a spelling mistake).
That said Y'all can use the names of my web sites regardless of what you say about me LOL
Have fun,
Peter.
Credit due....
Yes, that's true, and to set the record straight, as mentioned later, I had nothing to do with the discovery. MikeNZ had it posted on NRG for those of you that don't go there too. I was just trying to help smear the word.
Nice work Frank.
Woody, I'm not sure about the needle-in-a-haystack description. Considering how he approaches the trade and his work, I'd say Mike is more like a baleen whale. Anything with any value gets screened and collected in one big gulp.
How's it going Peter?
You guys are Fast, 3 days and 8 posts. Great work. Credit where credits due. Pictures tell a thousand stories.
I sent them a not-too friendly e-mail. Mike NZ sent a nicer one. We both got responses that the photos are being removed. No specific timeline, but I assume and hope soon.
This is the response I got.

Apologies for the use of the photographs. These photos where used whilst website was setup and awaiting our own photographs to be taken.
We are updating the site today with our photographs.
Thanks for contacting us regarding this.

Hi All,
I called by today to see if anything was happening, I do that from time to time.
Mike and Marlene have always been very generous with their knowledge and their photos, I know because I was given free access to any of their site content for a new web site I was building.
If those photos were on Getty Images or any of their associated web sites and used without the correct payment and permission it would be costing the site owner anywhere north of £1,500.00 per image for copyright infringement.
Dang caused me to come out from my usual comfortable lurking mode!
In the US, this is a simple fix. A DMCA violation notice will instantly get a site shut down if you know how to write it and who to send it to. I have used them in the past and literally, that day the site was down until the offending content was removed.
Thats like a brit; to think they have ownership rights to anything even half way across the world.
Nice bit of detective work Mike. http://www.brockroofing.co.uk/garage_replacement_roof.html. This is easier. How to get the word out and protect NZ. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. In this case I see robbery. B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day
