Are the price of shingles coming down?

You would think with the price of oil dropping that the shingles would follow. I have some stuff for the spring already, should I buy the shingles now or in thw spring?>>>

Prices are starting to come down. Yesterday, I was quoted $98/Sqr. for GAF 40 Yr. Timberline Shingles.>>>

lately I have been putting a material price increase clause in my proposals. Basically saying if prices go up between the time I send the bid and the time I buy materials I can pass the increase on.>>>

Actually, I like your first answer! With Ford being at about $2.50 the down side is very low and the upside wouldn't have to be much to make up the difference in the price of shingles.

on a serious note, its a good question without a good answer I'm afraid. If the contracts are signed and the price was based on current material prices it might be best to lock in at what you know will work.>>>

rather than tie the money up in materials you should invest it in the stock market. That way when spring comes it won't matter what the price of shingles are your profits will more than cover any material increases.... :whistle:>>>
