Las Vegas Bowl

The Las Vegas Bowl is an American NCAA Division I FBS annual college football game. It is played at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. The stadium has a seating capacity of 65,000. The bowl game was played at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Whitney, Nevada, with a seating capacity of 40,000, from 1992 until 2019. It is owned and operated by ESPN Events. The bowl was originated from the California Raisin Bowl that was played from 1981 to 1991 in Fresno.

ESPN Regional Television bought the Las Vegas Bowl in 2001 from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. The bowl featured a rematch between UCLA and Mountain West Champion BYU in 2007. UCLA had defeated BYU during the regular season. The bowl has gone through several sponsorship changes throughout its formation. From 2001 to 2002, the game was known as SEGA Sports Las Vegas Bowl. The title sponsor was the Pioneer Corporation from 2003 to 2008. The bowl was known as the Maaco Bowl Las Vegas from 2009 to 2012. From 2013 to 2015, it was known as the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl.

On July 12, 2018, it was announced that Mitsubishi would be the new sponsor for the title. The game was then renamed to Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl. ABC has broadcasted the bowl since 2013. ESPN2 and ESPN broadcasted the other editions of the Las Vegas Bowl.
