The RCI-IIBEC Foundation is set to release a new study on unit-price procurement of design and construction services. Based on interviews with vendors, cooperative purchasing list owners, regional cooperative purchasing agents, public owner facility managers, and public procurement staff, the study finds that unit-price procurement, especially within cooperative purchasing arrangements, introduces opportunities for abuse in the prequalification, design, and construction phases of building projects.
“An Analysis of Unit-Price Procurement,” sponsored by the RCI-IIBEC Foundation, is authored by Paul S. Chinowsky, professor emeritus in the civil, environmental, and architectural engineering department at the University of Colorado Boulder, and Gordon Kingsley, an associate professor in the School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech.
Plan now to join us for a release event webinar on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. ET. Hear from the study authors about what’s going on in public procurement of design and construction services using unit-price procurement.
By the end of this webinar, attendees will be better able to:
Learn how Unit Price Procurement and Cooperative Purchasing approaches can be misused.
Discuss how to ensure equity in unit price procurement.
Demonstrate how to properly utilize unit price in design and construction
Identify future challenges of unit price procurement strategies
Closing the session, Brian Pallasch, EVP/CEO of IIBEC, will discuss how IIBEC is defending the profession from the misuse of unit-price procurement. Also, learn how you can help IIBEC solve this problem.
