Veteran Thanked for His Service With New Roof

RCS Veteran Thanked
May 4, 2021 at 6:00 a.m.

By Cass Jacoby, RCS Reporter.

Volunteers show their appreciation by providing much needed roof repair for free to this Air Force veteran.

Robert Bensen is a U.S. Air Force veteran living in Chesterfield, Virginia. After more than a year of using buckets and tarps to catch the water leaking into his bedroom, he is finally receiving the new roof he deserves.

Thanks to the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project, a national movement to honor veterans, and Mueller Builders, Robert got his roof replaced at no cost to him.

Owens Corning™ Roofing’s new program pairs them with Habitat For Humanity to match contractors with military families around the country, aiming to deliver and install free, new roofs as tokens of appreciation for their service. The group has installed over 250 roofs for military members, strengthening the morale and well-being of service members.

“We’re excited to officially kick off the Roof Deployment Project and give back to the military members and families who give so much to our country,” contractor network leader to Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt Bill Mabry, said in this announcement. “This program provides Owens Corning and its network of independent Roofing Platinum Preferred Contractors with a way to help make these military families’ lives a little less stressful.”

Robert’s well-being is certainly improved, no longer having to worry about water damage from the leak in his bedroom.

When asked how he feels about his new roof, Robert told WTVR CBS 6, "It's heartwarming and life changing. There are good people out there and you can't forget it."

Do you know of someone in the industry who is ‘doing good deeds’ in their community? Help us catch them at it. Send news and information to info@rooferscoffeeshop.com.
