RCS Influencer Trent Cotney says that a lot of private investors are looking for sustainability as part of whatever pitch they get.

Editor's note: The following is a transcript of a conversation between Alex Tolle and Trent Cotney, partner of Adams and Reese. You can listen to the interview or read the transcript below.

Alex Tolle: Hello, I'm Alex Tolle with RoofersCoffeeShop.com. Back for another influencer response with Trent Cotney. How are you Trent?

Trent Cotney: Doing good, good to see you again.

Alex Tolle: Good to see you as well. So our September topic is about sustainability. So how can contractors prioritize sustainability in their practices and effectively use it as a business differentiator?

Trent Cotney: Sure, so sustainability is an important selling point. A lot of corporations, lot of owners and developers are looking for that when they go to market, especially in the commercial context. So I think it is a great thing for any contractor to make sure they have in their tool box, no pun intended, because I think it gives them a chance to potentially upsell. I think understanding not just the products that you're putting down, but the impact that it has on the environment, think, is a good thing to know.

There are a lot of products out there that are more sustainable than others. And I think there's a trend in this, even though some of the regulatory environment has changed, I do think that there are still a lot of private investment out there, private owners, whether it's residential or commercial, that are looking for sustainability as part of whatever pitch they get.

Alex Tolle: Yeah, absolutely. Thank you. As always, Trent, appreciate your insights.

Trent Cotney: Yeah, absolutely.

Trent Cotney is a partner and Construction Practice Group Leader at the law firm of Adams and Reese LLP and NRCA General Counsel. See his full bio here.
