AEP Span’s architectural metal panels are turning heads and transforming rooftops across the West Coast, proving that metal can be as beautiful as it is resilient. From winery clubhouses perched in Oregon’s wooded hills to sleek office renovations in the Arizona desert, recent projects showcase the brand’s commitment to design flexibility, performance and modern appeal.
One such visually stunning project that stands out is the Amaterra Winery in Portland, Oregon. Nestled in the city’s scenic West Hills, this winery is more than just a destination for wine lovers, it’s a striking architectural statement. The clubhouse, designed by Waterleaf Architecture and constructed by TT&L Sheet Metal, features AEP Span’s Span-Lok™ hp panels in Cool ZACtique® II, chosen for its durability and ability to harmonize with the natural surroundings. The metal panels echo the muted earth tones of the landscape while reflecting the Swede Hill site’s agricultural history.
The winery’s design includes a state-of-the-art gravity-flow production system and expansive indoor-outdoor spaces for events, blending utility with a sophisticated aesthetic. It’s an example of how thoughtful material selection enhances not just the structure but the experience.
Hundreds of miles south in Tucson, Arizona, a very different project demonstrates the same principles. The Charles Schwab Office Building renovation, led by Repp + McLain Design & Construction, turned a 1970s-era structure into a bold, contemporary landmark. AEP Span’s Design Span® hp panels in Vintage® were used not only for roofing but also as vertical siding — an unconventional application that showcases the product’s flexibility.
The semi-translucent finish provides depth and a metallic sheen that captures the light differently throughout the day. The move elevated the building’s curb appeal and fulfilled the client’s vision of merging timeless design with cutting-edge performance.
Across industries and regions, AEP Span’s work exemplifies how material innovation drives architectural storytelling. From vineyards to boardrooms, their products aren’t just cladding, they’re collaborators in design.
