I bet the pot caught on fire and was to close to building. My wife was just shopping there yesterday. They burnt an entire city block down. Very historical town of Garrettsville Ohio. 13 business gone.

Many of you don't know that my first job in the roofing industry at 19 was a roofing manufacturing plant. They made shingles, felt and 90lb back when it weighed 90 pound. They also refined oil into roofing asphalt. Bulk asphalt tankers flash too. EEEEKKKKKK. Bad news times a thousand.

egg Said: A building fire will fill you with despair.

Been there. Done that. It's a gut-knot unlike any other.

A roofer not far from me has been burning shingles down in a ditch at night. About a week ago, the wind caught the flames and burnt his farm housing down. Maybe his house too, I've heard different stories.

EPA spent over two hours there. Sad part is that there is a recycling plant not 15 miles from him!

Those buildings were brand new when Morgan's Raiders went through Ohio. He got pretty close to there; not quite there. Might have had carpenters going to work on them packing rifles wondering if it was going to be a short day.

Circa 1990-ish - We had a strip mall ignite, hours after crew had left,(APP-lined integral gutter system, on wood-framed structure).....

Lucky for us, it was right across the street from a fire station.....Had to re-frame a bit of mansard was all.

Could've been disastrous, as it was new construction/wood-framed mansard all around.....Like kindling.

It's not in the news yet but a friend who live there say the roofers with the blow torches and catch the roof on fire.

Can't resist to jump in w/the arm-chair quarter-back dialogue as well....

I heard mention of a water supply issue w/FD.

With that in mind.....

Just the other day, I rounded a corner to come upon a vehicle that had a small engine compartment fire. A fire truck was approaching from the opposite end of the street. I immediately turned-around so as not to encumber/distract from the fire extinguishing operation.....As I'm completing my turn-around, a cop zoom's up and blocks the road - lights a flashn'.

I had to go around/detour a few blocks in order to continue on my way....The firemen were still milling-about the scene with the fire growing.

I thought; Ya know, had I been in my truck, or one of our work trucks, I could've jumped-out & simply extinguished the fire.....I feel for the owner of the vehicle. It sustained far greater damage that it should have.

I appreciate and respect our civil servants , but I must admit, the gov't/bureaucratic nonsense is disheartening...Possibly in the long-run/big picture it may work out....But for the day-to-day type issues.....Muster-up a "can-do" attitude and just take care of it....OK guys?

...or someone broke the propane line ...or the pilot went out and the burners turned on ...or they were using a torch up above ...or the hot flashed when it came out of the stinger

You're probably right, though. They probably ran it down near the tubes. If you don't snuff them right away, they can get out of hand in a hurry. I'll never forget what it's like to get some cold in through a wall of flame.

Kettle fires will get your adrenaline pumping in a hurry. A building fire will fill you with despair. Very sad.

That one likely exceeded somebody's policy limit.
