Why Ventilation is More Important Than Ever

Quarrix Tony Vizzi
May 20, 2023 at 3:00 a.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt.

We speak with Tony Vizzi from Quarrix about why roof and wall ventilation should be at the forefront of everyone’s minds.

As building innovation has progressed, it has also tightened a lot of building envelopes. This means that air movement in many buildings has been reduced, making it hard for buildings to ventilate their hot air. In a recent podcast, we spoke with Tony Vizzi, Quarrix’s regional sales manager, about why this means we need ventilation now more than ever.

We begin our conversation with Tony by having him discuss the products Quarrix has to offer. He said that at their core, they are a ventilation focused company that specializes in roof and wall protection, the latter being their latest business venture.

“We are beginning to see out in the marketplace is these types of products that allow the wall to breathe behind the exterior cladding,” he said. “They are just as important as the products that we sell as solutions for the rooftop.”

We also discussed with him why ventilation systems are needed more now than ever before. Tony stated that because innovations in construction have led to a tighter building envelope and in turn, reduced air movement. He also cites energy efficiency as another incentive for building owners to invest in more ventilation systems. When air enters a building, when it doesn’t have a way to ventilate back outside, it gets trapped in the walls and roof and leads to higher gas and electric bills.

“For all of us who pay monthly gas and electric bills, we see the rising costs in finding solutions that lessen those costs. It's critical to our budgets,” Tony said. “The planet has a finite supply of energy, and so conserving it where we can makes sense for the globe.”
