Why Company Culture is Everything

Why Company Culture is Everything
July 12, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.

By Cass Jacoby, RCS Reporter.

SRS Distribution’s Carrie David discusses the special culture of SRS that makes the company so successful.

In Season 4, Episode 26 of the Roofing Road Trips Podcast, RCS President Heidi J. Ellsworth travels to Texas to talk with SRS Distribution’s EVP/Chief Human Resource Officer Carrie David. Grab a cup of coffee and tune into this fantastic conversation on the importance of a strong culture to the success of any company.

Carrie David is the chief people officer in 2021 and responsible for creating and driving the people strategy across SRS, including strengthening an exceptional culture, enhancing training and career development for employees and furthering a strong diversity and inclusion journey. “We're pretty proud of what's going on at SRS,” says Carrie. “One of the things quite honestly, that attracted me to SRS Distribution is the culture here because it is so incredibly amazing.”

SRS is known for an extraordinary culture that has changed expectations of employees throughout roofing. “This amazing culture has been in existence since the company was started with Ron Ross and Dan Tinker, less than 15 years ago,” says Carrie. “But there was always a focus on building a special culture.”

The culture pledge made by SRS leadership to all SRS employees continues to permeate the company at all levels. As Carrie tells Heidi, what really makes the culture so strong is having leadership work for the field and strongly investing in employees.

“We know that it's our job to enable and empower our local leaders to tap into their talents so that they can create that personal and just fantastic experience for each of our customers," says Carrie. “So, when we make decisions, we often make it with the frontline top of mind because they touch the customers and interact all the time with our suppliers. And we know that those positions are so critical to the secret sauce that makes us so successful.”

Listen to the podcast for more insight on how to build a strong company culture that will destine your company for success.
