Supporting contractors beyond WRE

Supporting contractors beyond WRE
January 3, 2026 at 3:00 a.m.

By Jenny Yu.

WSRCA offers long-term support, affordable dues and meaningful reinvestment into the community.

Beyond the excitement of the Western Roofing Expo (WRE) trade show, the Western States Roofing Contractors Association (WSRCA) provides immeasurable value for its members. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Executive Director Joel Viera and Director of Membership and Trade Show Alec Ward broke down how WSRCA supports contractors year-round, not just during the big event in Vegas.

Alec spoke of how much of the value WSRCA offers is built into membership. He explained that each member receives free access to legal counsel, safety tools and expert technical advisors.

  • Legal support: WSRCA members have access to legal support through their general counsel (and RoofersCoffeeShop® Influencer) Trent Cotney of Adams and Reese. Every month, Trent offers 15 minutes of free consultation.
  • Safety: The WSRCA Safety Companion App, created by safety consultant Stephen Zasadil, includes OSHA regulations, safety guidelines and training materials in the form of articles, videos and checklists.
  • Technical consulting: Ken Klein of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger is WSRCA’s technical advisor. Members can submit issues and receive free trouble-shooting advice.

“There are plenty of ways that the ROI of our membership is huge,” Alec stated. “Just use one or two benefits and you’re going to make your money back quickly.”

To Joel, providing this value is of utmost importance. “We have never, ever put more membership value on the plate as we're doing right now, and we rarely raise our dues. I think in the last 10 to 15 years, we've raised our dues once,” he said. “It's never been about making money here at WSRCA. It's about making things better for the roofing industry. It's all about what we can do to make things better for our fellow roofing contractor.”
