Preparing for Roofing Day 2024

NRCA Preparing for Roofing Day 2024 Podcast
March 2, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.

By Emma Peterson.

Learn how Roofing Day brings the community together to work towards a stronger future for the industry.

In a new episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Megan Ellsworth met with Deborah “Deb” Mazol and Duane Musser from the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) about Roofing Day 2024 which is happening April 16-17. Deb is the association’s director of federal affairs and Duane is their vice president of government relations.

Roofing Day is a Washington D.C. based event that really got started in 2018. Deb explained, “It was a fulfilled vision of then CEO, Reed Ribble, former congressman. And he really understood intimately the value of being there, being seen, being heard, putting a story and a personal touch on all the policy goals that we have.” The event brings together people from across the industry and the country in DC to advocate for policy goals that help the community.

This year, Duane, Deb and the rest of the team behind Roofing Day want to really make the industry seen and heard by the members of congress. Deb emphasized, “Roofing Day represents everyone from contractors to manufacturers to field installers to consultants and architects, other associations.” Having all these groups attend gives NRCA a great perspective on the state of the industry and the different needs in each sector. As for Roofing Day itself, it’s not possible to tackle all of these issues at once, Deb explained the solution, “We find one or two issues that really embody all parts of the industry and something we all can agree on.”

By finding the common ground between all the groups, Roofing Day elevates and supports a stronger future for everyone, no matter their job title. Duane emphasized this, “There are disparate parts of our industry, and we need to go up against other industries and interests within Washington DC, so it's important that we come together and speak with one voice, so our message is loud and clear.”
