An upcoming NWIR webinar helps professionals build the confidence to advocate for promotions, raises and career advancement.
As the year comes to a close, 'tis the season of performance reviews. For many, these can be one of the most stressful meetings on the calendar each year. But what is often forgotten is that performance reviews can also be the most powerful asset – if you advocate for yourself well!
What does self-advocacy look like in the workplace? It's a skill that must be learned, and like learning anything new, it is uncomfortable the first time you do it. But it is often the key to getting recognized for your hard work and contributions. And it’s not a skill you have to learn alone.
On Monday, November 9, 2026, the National Women in Roofing (NWIR)'s DEI Committee is hosting a webinar, “Make Your Value Visible: Preparing for Your Performance Reviews and Financial Equity,” all about how to confidently advocate for yourself. This session, which runs from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. PT, will be hosted by Erin Hoffman and Lynn Picone.
Erin is a financial advisor at Certified Financial Services, LLC (CFS). In this role, Erin helps “educate and empower her clients on how to gain an understanding of basic financial concepts, how to get financially organized and provide them with the knowledge to make great decisions, so they have the courage and understanding to move forward and reach their goals.” She also has experience mentoring or the Seton Hall University Women in Business Program. In her words, she is “passionate about giving back to professional women, advancing women’s leadership, advocacy and mentorship in business and shattering glass ceilings everywhere.”
As for Lynn, she’s a national accounts manager at GAF and the past chair of NWIR (2020-2022). She is dedicated to serving the roofing industry and showing women that they have a place in this community. As she sums up, “In addition to [receiving the Dario Miranda Memorial Award which is a distinctive recognition within the company named for a true ally of women in the industry], I have been recognized as a multi-year nominee for the NWIR Veteran Award, by ARMA for my years of service, a GAF Extra Mile Award winner and I even earned a patent during my years in new product development. I can't share enough how rewarding this industry can be for women.”
The virtual event hosted by these two incredible women promises to be an “an empowering conversation about how to confidently navigate discussions around promotions, raises and career advancement.” Whether you’re hoping for a promotion, negotiating pay or looking at advance your career, this webinar will help.
