Nominate a veteran for a new roof!

Nominate a veteran for a new roof!
December 12, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.

By Emma Peterson.

QXO for Veterans is looking to replace the roof of 13 veterans or veteran organizations around North America at no cost.

For seven years now, QXO has run an initiative to support veterans called QXO for Veterans (previously known as Beacon of Hope). In that time, they have been able to install over 60 roofs, providing “essential home improvements that restore security, dignity and peace of mind” to those that have already given so much for their country.

This year, the program is expanding to help 13 veterans or veteran organizations around North America by replacing their roofs at no cost!

How to get involved

This program runs in four phases:

  1. Nomination submission: From November 11, 2025, to December 17, 2025, QXO will be accepting nominations for a new roof. The nominated individual or organization must be located in Canada, one of the 50 states in the U.S. or the District of Columbia (D.C.). To submit a nomination, you will need to send three photos of the roof and one photo of the veteran/organization along with an explanation of why they deserve a roof replacement.
  2. Panel review: Once the nomination period closes, a committee will spend a month (December 18, 2025, to January 30, 2026) reviewing the submissions. This committee includes QXO executives and veterans, publishers from Roofing Contractor, executives from GAF and The Coffee Shops’ very own Heidi J. Ellsworth
  3. Announcement time: Once the committee has reviewed all the submissions, 13 finalists will be announced as winners on February 4, 2026.
  4. The work begins: Then, starting in February 2026 and running through the summer, QXO, through partnerships with local roofing contractors and suppliers, will work with the winners to get them their “one-time residential or commercial re-roofing or other similar roof repair."

Overall, this program is a prime example of QXO’s larger commitment to supporting their communities and giving back to those who have sacrificed the most for this country. Josephine Berisha, chief human resources officer at QXO, shared, “Supporting our veterans is about honoring their commitment, perseverance and sacrifice. We’re humbled to continue this tradition and encourage the public to nominate veterans and Gold Star Families in their communities.”
