How Supporting and Educating Customers Equals Success

MARCO Industries spoke with us at the Western Roofing Expo about how they found success by providing their customers with valuable resources. 

RoofersCoffeeShop® COO, Karen Edwards, sat down with National Sales Manager Jim McGaha from MARCO Industries for a special live interview at the Western States Roofing Contractor Association's (WSRCA) 2022 Western Roofing Expo! There, the two discussed the efforts Marco Industries has made to educate their customers about all the products they offer. 

MARCO Industries produces a variety of ventilation products and accessories for residential roofs and they’ve recently expanded their offerings with a new product line for clay tiles. But they also offer more than just products to their customers. MARCO understands that many new customers may not be familiar with how to install their products, so they also provide them with training to get them acquainted with their ventilation systems. 

“I have developed a seminar, it's a training for contractors. It's about our products, but it's really about ventilation practices,” Jim says. “It's what to do, what not to do, things to look for, safe practices. And it's a certification, that once you complete it, you do get a little certification.” 

According to Jim, MARCO understands that installing ventilation products can seem a bit intimidating in terms of calculating exactly what a roof needs. As a manufacturer of ventilation systems, they see it as their duty to educate contractors on how to properly install a ventilation system for whatever roof they are working with. And because they provide their customers with this education, they are seen as a trusted ventilation system company.  

Jim says that MARCO also attributes their success to being flexible to the regional needs of contractors’ and homeowners. “Ventilation is the same throughout the country, but the products that are used are much different. So something that's used in the Northeast would be something that's different in the Southwest,” he says. “You have to be flexible and adapt to contractors' needs and wants, and that's what we're here for.”
