Jason says that IB Roof Systems is currently focused on education. Last July at the IB Roof Systems plant, the National Roofing Contractors Association’s (NRCA) presented on their national certification initiative, ProCertification®, working to inspire attendees to certify their experience and skills as professionals in order to elevate the industry.
“We did a great event at our office in Grapevine, Texas, where for two days we hosted people for ProCertification,” says Jason. “We need to get more and more people engaged in ProCertification.”
IB Roof Systems hosted the event and then encouraged contractors to come back to their HQ in late September to take the hands-on exam and get certified.“It was a tremendous couple days at IB and hopefully more to come. We invite all manufacturers to participate,” says Jason. “This was not an IB event, this was an NRCA event that we simply hosted. So you can do the same at your facility and we encourage you to do that,”
The event was an astute demonstration of the industry-wide push to create a standard for certifying skills and experience for roofing professionals.
“We are seeing a lot of pressure for people to get in and get ProCertified,” says Jason. “We need to drive this from every level to get our industry participants, the people that work so hard on the roof to be safe and understand the product they're installing and actually carry a credential, which would be this ProCertification card from the NRCA.”
