Coatings, community and what’s next for RCMA

Coatings, community and what’s next for RCMA
May 6, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.

By Emma Peterson.

Get insight into RCMA’s plans for the rest of 2025.

The Roofing Coatings Manufacturers Association (RCMA) has been representing asphaltic and solar reflective roof coating manufacturers and applicators for over 40 years. With more than 70 members who manufacture or supply roof coating products, RCMA continues to advance the market for coatings through education, outreach, advocacy and research. While at the 2025 International Roofing Expo, we were able to grab a few minutes for an interview with Josh Poole, the new RCMA president.

Josh, who works at Tremco as director of product management when he is not attending to RCMA presidential duties, shared with us some of what the rest of the year looks like for the association. One of the big events coming up is the RCMA Fall Meeting. This meeting brings together coating industry leaders, innovators and experts for engaging and educational sessions every year.

This meeting is also when RCMA celebrates the people who make up the roof coatings industry. The highly anticipated RCMA Project of the Year Award will be awarded for the first time at the Fall Meeting. Josh shared a bit about this year’s competition, saying, “It's very exciting. This is an opportunity for anyone to submit their roof coating project that took place over the past year. We judge on five different categories: innovation, complexity, technique, design and sustainability. We've already gotten a number of great projects submitted.”

RCMA’s 2025 Fall Meeting will be taking place on October 22-23 in Tallahassee, FL. For those wanting more information on the meeting or the larger roof coatings industry, RCMA’s website is a great resource. Josh added, “Our mission is to try to educate and advocate for the benefits of roof coatings. So we have a number of resources on there. We also have contractor training program, which is fantastic. And, if you want to become a member, we have all the information you need for that online as well.”

Watch the full interview to learn more about RCMA’s plans for 2025! Also, check out their website for some of those incredible resources and to become a member.
