Building smarter roofs

Building smarter roofs
April 9, 2025 at 12:00 a.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

Layered protection, high-performance shingles and a polished finish come together in this integrated roofing solution.

TAMKO Building Products is putting a new spin on roofing systems with the TAMKO Complete® roof system — a fully integrated approach that combines waterproofing, underlayment, ventilation and finishing touches to help roofing professionals deliver longer-lasting, more resilient roofs.

Designed for performance at every stage, the TAMKO Complete® roof system emphasizes what it calls the “Protect, Prolong, Perform” trifecta. It starts with proper foundational layers, including self-adhering underlayments made with SBS modified bitumen asphalt for waterproofing and synthetic underlayments that provide a lightweight, tear-resistant barrier across the entire deck. As a self-adhering underlayment, it’s designed to be installed quickly and easily, saving contractors time while providing waterproofing capabilities.

The company also stresses the importance of using TAMKO® starter shingles, not just for better adhesion and blowoff resistance, but because they’re a requirement for TAMKO’s WindGuard® extended high wind warranty*.

And in terms of performance, TAMKO has an asphalt shingle ready to fit the needs of any roofing job. Among the shingle lineup are TAMKO’s Titan XT® and StormFighter FLEX® shingles, both designed for severe weather performance. The Titan XT® shingle boasts a 160 MPH high wind warranty* and UL 2218 Class 3 impact rating.** The StormFighter FLEX® shingle adds cold-weather versatility with a 25°F installation temperature† and an even higher UL 2218 Class 4 rating.‡

Finally, the system caps off with hip and ridge shingles, available in a range of colors to match the main shingle lines and designed to protect vulnerable roof edges.

Roofers looking to offer full-system protection that helps protect, prolong and perform are going to want to take a closer look.

Full specs, warranty requirements and product compatibility details are available in the company’s official product sheet!

*160 MPH wind warranty requires TAMKO® starter & TAMKO® hip & ridge. See StormFighter FLEX’s full High Wind Application Instructions for all requirements and restrictions.

** Titan XT® shingles are classified by UL for compliance with UL 2218 Class 3 impact resistance.

† Please consult TAMKO’s Limited Warranty and Application Instructions for requirements

‡ StormFighter FLEX® 4 shingles are classified by UL for compliance with UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance
